After taking a women’s studies class as an undergrad, I automatically knew that I wanted to have a natural birth. At that time midwives in the state of Alabama were illegal, but I was lucky to come in contact with our lovely doula Nadia. She is simply amazing! Both my husband and I can attest to Nadia’s ability and knowledge of a women’s body during labor. This was our very first pregnancy so I was set on having a labor coach who knew what they were doing! Nadia was very helpful in educating us in what to expect in the weeks leading to bring Ms. Karter into the world. The atmosphere was my safe haven. The lights, oil diffuser, and playlist really made my birthing experience that much better. Nadia was able to calm me in the most unique ways with included breathing techniques, massages, and a birthing ball that was a life saver. She was the light in the room who spoke up when I needed her to, so my demands were always met. Nadia helped us achieve our ultimate goal, which was having Karter with no epidural!
